- ☕ Cuppa Tea? ☕ -

If you're enjoying Stoo's site, perhaps treat him to a nice cup of the good stuff.

I was in Norwich this Saturday just gone visiting my son who is at Uni there, you know the usual thing, taking him shopping (paying for it too – Bank of Dad) and as it happens my visit coincided with the monthly meet of the Norwich Amiga Group, which I’d kindly been invited to by Andrew creator of the superb Immortal Joysticks whom over the past 12+ months I’ve got to know through this shared passion we all have of old skool gaming. Oh and drinking beer too! 😉

Well what can I say what a great bunch of people and as total newbie to attending such meets I had a brilliant time. I even managed to make it to the final of the game challenge with the excellent 4 player TankX game though this was more luck as I got obliterated in the final. 😉

Lots of pictures were taken ( not by me, regrettably as I was too busy talking all night – once I start I tend to go on…) which you can view via their official accounts on social media, namely Facebook and Twitter.

As well as talking with lots of the group members and of course signing a few things which is always a pleasure, I had a great chat with that rather clever chap Andrew Hutchings aka LinuxJedi who never ceases to amaze me with his knowledge of hardware hacking, fixing and general info on all things electronic. Top man!

If you’re in the Norwich area or within a reasonable drive and fancy attending the next meet I can wholeheartedly recommend paying them a visit. The location is spot on with good facilities and beer too! Lots of machines were set up and I got to see Cannon Fodder on a big screen which is a first as I’ve only ever played it on a small computer monitor. Even back in the 90s when we were developing it, the graphics were drawn on a 14″ Commodore screen, back when 14 inches was enough! Oh matron!
